come run in the mud with me in San Diego!

Before I became a runner, my sister started running. And a few of my friends were running too. They did a mud run one summer and I was so intrigued by their stories and photos. It seemed crazy, but fun.

Fast forward a few years, and the hubs and I were running a 10k with a big group of friends, including both my sisters-- The Camp Pendleton World Famous Mud run to be exact. And it was crazy, and fun. Before you finish the first mile you are sprayed down with fire hoses from fire trucks. Then you run trails and through creeks, through obstacles, up a few huge hills before you hit the walls (thank you marines who were there to help us over!) and then swimming across a small pond. The finish is in the actual mud pits--but not before you climb up the slipper slope where you hang on to any weed or bush you can, clawing at handfuls of mud to get up the hill with water running down it.

Are you convinced it's fun? It really is! Because you can't really "race" a mud run (in my opinion), there's no huge pressure, and everyone is getting dirty.

Enter: DIRTY GIRL, a fun Mud Run coming up next month in San Diego. What's better than getting dirty, is getting dirty with a bunch of girlfriends. I love

Here's the description from their website:

Run, walk, climb, crawl—you will experience it all. With obstacle names like H2OMG and PMS (Pretty Muddy Stuff), you can expect to laugh until your cheeks hurt. But don't worry, if you get to an obstacle that's more than a challenge for you—hey, take one of the detours. Also expect safety throughout. Expect the competition to go on rain or shine. Expect not to be timed. Expect some crazy team uniforms. Expect to leave with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

A few other great things about the race:

-you can register as an indivual or a team
-this is a non-competitive event and isn't timed---it's just FUN!
-your registration fee also gets you a tshirt, charm, entertainment and music

I love that the race also supports the National Breast Cancer Association. My mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor, so this is a cause near and dear to our hearts.

It's not too late...the race is February 9, and there are still spots available.

Disclosure: I'm a Dirty Girl Ambassador, because I'm a girl, who has fun getting dirty, while she runs. In exchange for a Mud Run entry, I'm telling you all about it! All opinions on mud runs are my own dirty ones.
